Varun Naidu conducted high risk operations as part of Emergency Response Team
Being into the Delta Police
Department for years, Varun Naidu
oversaw 200 sworn officers, 73 support staff, and over 200 volunteers. Above
all, he operated an annual budget of 34 million dollars. As the part of the
management team, he worked collaboratively with Delta Police Association and
the Canadian Union of Public Employees. Varun acts as an investigator,
supervisor, manager, and executive and holds a diverse background in Patrol
Division, Drug Section, Criminal Investigation Branch, Emergency Response Team,
and Community Policing.
He formerly served in the
Inspector Strategic Services Branch in September 2017 where he conducted
reviews and coordinated special projects for the Department. Apart from this,
he oversaw the Emergency Management Section and the Victims Services Unit.
As the inspector in charge of
Operational Support Branch, Varun Naidu
managed Traffic Section, Vulnerable Sector, Community Policing, Victim Services,
Community Relations, and School Liaison Units. He considered it his
responsibility to make sure that the Operational Support Branch was adequately
resourced and managed.
While serving at the Patrol
Division, Varun responded to the calls for services as well as conducted
investigations. He came forward with the problem solving initiatives to address
the community concerns. Besides, he supervised the constables and provided them
with the guidance and leadership on all investigative and operational matters.
As the part of Emergency Response
Team, Varun conducted high risk operations that fell outside the skills,
knowledge, and abilities of regular members such as warrant service, barricaded
persons, and hostage rescue. Soon after this, he was selected as the Team
Leader of the Emergency Response Team where he supervised the tactical
operations and coordinated training.
Being the former watch commander
in Delta Police Department, Varun Naidu
supervised the patrol shift where he was responsible for a team of seventeen
constables and two sergeants conduction patrol and uniform functions. He
provided the field support and guidance, along with the drafting and delivering
performance evaluations.
Talking about his educational
credentials, Varun graduated from the University of British Columbia with
Bachelor of Education. Besides, he won the Oliver Thompson Memorial Award at
the Police Academy. He loves to watch sports especially NFL during his free
time. He will be joining Porsche club quite soon.
