Varun Naidu formerly supervised Patrol shift as Staff Sergeant Watch Commander
With an extensive expertise in
operational policing as an investigator, supervisor, manager and executive, Varun Naidu possesses a diverse
background in Patrol Division, Drug Section, Criminal Investigation Branch,
Emergency Response Team and Community Policing.
With his core competency as a
supervisor, Varun formerly supervised the Patrol shift as the Staff Sergeant
Watch Commander at Delta Police department. Here, he was responsible for a team
of seventeen constables and two sergeants conducting the patrol and uniform
functions. He considered it his responsibility to provide the field support and
guidance on all the investigative and administrative matters along with the drafting
and delivering the performance evaluations.
As a former Sergeant at Delta
Police Department, Varun Naidu acted
a supervisor and provided insight on all the investigations and developed
strategies with the team, thus reducing the impact of drugs in the community
through education and enforcement.
Apart from all this, being the
part of the Emergency Response Team, Varun conducted high risk operations that
fell outside the skills, knowledge and abilities of regular members such as
warrant service, barricaded persons and hostage rescue. Later on, he was
selected as the Team Leader of the Emergency response Team where he supervised
all tactical operations and coordinated training.
Overall, Varun Naidu has been serving Delta Police Department for years.
Through his hard work and dedication, he gained expertise in overseeing 200
sworn officers, 73 support staff, and over 200 volunteers. Adding to his
achievements, he operated an annual budget of 34 million dollars. Being the
part of management team, he worked collaboratively with Delta Police
Association and the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
About Varun Naidu
Varun Naidu has been the inspector in charge of Operational Support
Branch where he managed Traffic Section, Vulnerable Sector, Community Policing,
Victim Services, Community Relations and School Liaison Units. It was his
responsibility to ensure that the Operational Support Branch was adequately
resourced and managed. Serving as the
Acting Inspector at the Patrol Division, Varun formerly served as the in charge of Patrol Division. Here, he
managed first response priorities and services to the community. He also
supervised four platoon shifts consisting of approximately 80 officers.
